Boulangerie Du Monde
About This Spot
Stepping into Boulangerie Du Monde is like slipping into a quiet corner of France, right in the heart of Cedarburg. The bakery greets you with an inviting warmth that feels unpretentious and genuine—there’s a calm, deliberate pace here that encourages lingering, even if one’s visit is simply to grab a prized loaf or a morning pastry. The modest, cozy seating area seems designed less for bustle and more for those moments when the world slows down enough to truly savor fresh bread and a quiet shuffle of conversation.
Behind the counter, the unmistakable scent of freshly baked dough and butter lingers, promising the kind of breads and pastries that have clearly been crafted with care and an eye toward tradition. Whether it’s the satisfying crackle of a baguette’s crust or the delicate layers of a croissant, each bite feels like an invitation to pause and appreciate the artistry baked into these everyday essentials. Boulangerie Du Monde doesn’t rush its patrons, and in turn, it asks for a gentle patience, especially when the most popular items tend to sell out early—but all agree the wait is part of the charm.
The atmosphere here reflects a community rhythm that’s comforting and familiar, yet subtly anchored in something just a little different than your typical neighborhood bakery. It’s a spot where the bread is the real conversation starter, and where the simple pleasure of great baking quietly brings people back time and again. For those who cherish the ritual of freshly baked bread or the soft allure of a bear claw or raspberry Danish, this is the kind of place where you quickly feel you’ve found one of those local treasures worth guarding.

Oh my goodness, I don't even know where to begin which is funny since I basically came here to talk about bread. This is a quaint space with modest seating. But what I go here for are the baguettes. And let me tell you they do not disappoint. Usually when I arrive, they are sold out. I typically spend more afternoons in Cedarburg than mornings but that's changing because I NEED more of their baguettes in my life. I have had to wait for them to be ready and let me tell you, it is worth the wait. Taking away a warm fresh baked baguette to snack on later is an incredible experience. The crunch of the first bite is what has brought me back every time. It's almost addictive. So satisfying. I've been to Paris, and I don't recall the baguettes being quite this amazing. On my last visit in, I asked how to bring back that lovely crunch because I bought extra on my previous visit to tide me over but after a few days it was missing that crunch. The woman behind the counter said to pop it in the oven, gave no temperature or time, just said do it when preheating the oven for a meal and keep an eye on it. So that's what I did, and it was perfect!!!! I cannot say much about their pastries other than they are beautiful. I've only had the baguettes, I am a bread girl. I opt for the minis so I can have more crusty crunchy ends. I highly recommend this place for the baguettes for any occasion, a treat, a holiday, a birthday, an anniversary, a baguette and butter date, girl dinner. Do yourself a favor and splurge on Kerrygold salted butter to accompany this beautiful bread.

The best pastries around. Every time we have visited here, the pastries are consistently great. The service is always fast and the employees are very kind. You can tell that the bakers put a lot of care and intention into their craft. I wish there were more places like this!

Best, freshest pastries/rolls/breads our brood has had, anywhere. Excellent quality! Not terribly upbeat or friendly. Tad dull decor. Limited coffee selection. But VERY BEST baked goods, ever and that's the point.

Fantastic place! It's an amazing French bakery that has all the staples. They are extremely popular so plan to come early or risk things being sold out. You can also call ahead, but it can be very difficult to get an answer. Trust me, though, the food is worth the wait. The food is very high quality, reasonably priced, and super fresh. You can tell they make it daily.

By FAR one of the BEST bakeries. I travel from Illinois frequently to get any of they’re baked goods. The brownies are rich and fudgey but have a different texture which makes me like them even more. The Schneckens are sticky and crunchy and have a browned butter/toffee flavor to them. I’m completely obsessed with grain or seed breads and the rosemary garlic ciabatta. My mother adores the croissants and the brioche. Literally everything we have tried is delicious from this bakery.

Ordered croissants & roasted garlic ciabatta rolls - picked up close to noon— the croissants were boxed (chocolate & almond) & the RG Ciabatta rolls were just out of the oven in an open top pastry bag! Smelled heavenly all the way home! Uber delicious!! Omg! Thank you & recommend highly!!!
